The following are links to useful shareware programs for both Windows 95/98/NT and Macintosh operating systems.
WINDOWS
For the Windows 95/98/NT operating system there is one program that does just about everything you need to make and print out great multiple page output
You should also try a drawing oriented program based heavily on Poster6 but with a few differences
MACINTOSH
GraphicConverer is one of the must have Macintosh graphic programs. You can convert and view many different graphic formats. Unfortunately it currently doesn't support either margin adjustment or 'overlap edges' features needed for printing posters.
GIFConverter is a nice conversion program and it supports margin adjustment (use points for margin measurements, since currently there is a bug in the inches or cm selections). There is also a handy 'Show Page Breaks' selection so that you can see what will be printed on each sheet. This is currently the best shareware program for printing posters on the Mac.
BigPicture is an interesting graphic program. It is very fast and allows margin adjustment. It won't however give you any print preview so you won't know what you will be printing. It also won't let you change the size of the image by any non-multiple of two. This makes it almost useless for currently for printing posters.
ShareDraw is a great shareware drawing program. Unfortunately it doesn't support margin adjustment and is thus not suited for poster printing. It may be useful for generating files to be printed.
Please remember that shareware is a 'try before you buy' method of distributing software. If you continue to use the software please register and pay for the software. The programmers have spent many long hours working on the programs and deserve to be paid for their work.
